Description
Papua New Guinea adopted its flag in 1971 a few years before gaining independence from Australia. The flag is split in half from corner to corner in black and red. It has the Southern Cross in the lower half and the Bird of Paradise which represents unification under one nation.
The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
