Description

The British Army's approach to the bivy bag (Alternative spelling bivi or bivvy) is a no-nonsense design but with superior material quality. By "no-nonsense design" we mean there is no side zip, snap dome fastening or hook & loop strips to mess around with. You enter through the wide opening at the top, tighten the bag with a drawstring, then you're locked in for a dry night in the wilderness. Some will appreciate the simplicity but if you're after something that implements with a whole sleep system and has a zip access, check out the US Army bivy bag.

The British Army use a material called MVP (Moisture Vapour Permeable), which is a waterproof and breathable membrane—like Gore-Tex®. This will keep you and your sleeping bag dry if your environment is damp and dewy. If you've tried it, you'll know there is nothing like getting out of the tent and sleeping directly under the stars on a mild night in the outdoors. Pick up a bivy bag and give it a go.

I can't fault this bivy bag. It's in excellent condition and the seaming is next level. The DPM pattern is perfect for sleeping out in the NZ bush - you're nigh on invisible. I treated the bivy with some Nickwax to give the waterproofing properties a boost and it passed with flying colours when testing out in the wet last week. A very good buy indeed.
