Description
The Benin flag was originally adopted in 1959 to replace the French tricolour and then reinstated in 1990 after the failed socialist republic of Benin. The green represents the hope of a new democracy. The red represents the courage of the ancestors and the yellow represents the treasures of the nation.
The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
