Description

*Note* Most of these bags are worn olive drab but there are a few different colours mixed in. Please see the last picture for an example of the variations in colour. There may also be ink writing to the bags surface. These will be chosen at random.

This is a fantastic general purpose single compartment, large shoulder bag. The bag itself is a 1937 Pattern British shoulder bag with an attached British cotton shoulder strap. These bags were possibly sent to the Dutch for their own personal use. Although they've seen a fair bit of action, they still have a lot of kick left in them. It seems a few of these were coloured differently in their heyday, perhaps painted. As these colours have worn down, they sure do take on a rustic appearance. Please see the last picture for an example of different colours mixed in, though the majority of this batch is much like the first picture.

A great candidate for collectable surplus, but more likely to work best for people as a student or messenger bag. It's sturdy canvas material can take a bashing and would make for a good, hard wearing tool bag. As well as being tough, it's also loaded with style and authentic military feel.

Features:

  • 1937 Pattern vintage design
  • Sturdy cotton canvas
  • Attached British shoulder strap

Excellent for Pannier Conversion

Converted a pair into a set of throw-over motorcycle panniers (I sit on the strap to secure in place). A bit of needlework will get you a tough set of retro luggage.

My opinion

exactly matches it's description a tough bag 👍 although I wouldn't recommend using it as a shoulder bag as it is uncomfortable, It lacks two L straps to basically turn it into a bag lol, but you'll probably find L straps on trade me somewhere, from what I know about these bags these are the Big pattern 37 bags NOT THE TYPICAL SMALLER BAGS WORN INTO COMBAT. I believe these were carried around when in marching order and I also believe these bags were made/ first used in 1908 part of the 08 pattern used during WW1 and carried on well into the 50s as I'm aware. my bag has a heap of names on the bag flap, some were probably previous soldiers and some were probably previous owners of the bag (post war use). I'm slowly starting up a WW2 impression of a 2nd NZEF soldier and will be using this for that.

British back pack

These are the bigger back pack from the 08 and 37 british ww1 and ww2 webbing. They are relatively large. The first one I brought was marked 09 which was a pleasant surprise.

big bag

This thing is quite big for what it is. Not a very comfortable wear either. Wouldn't recommend.
