Description
The German M35 is an iconic helmet (Stahlhelm) from WWII. It's distinctive shape was instantly recognizable and was used as a symbol in military propaganda. A wide release of the helmets began in 1935 (hence M35) and were issued to all of the branches of the German military (Wehrmacht) including the Kriegsmarine, Heer, Waffen SS and Luftwaffe.
Although named by the German manufacturer as a M35, these helmets are more accurate of a M40 (mainly due to the stamped ventilation hole). This among other minor details was done during war time to speed up/cheapen production. The stamped shell size (68cm) and manufacturer on the center of the helm, the rolled steel edge, and the leather liner and chin strap are all close to the original design. Made from a tough steel shell, it's similar in weight and colour to genuine M35/M40 models.
For reenactment purposes, this is a good quality recreation. The originals are becoming a rare and very expensive find. If you're wanting one of these iconic coal scuttle helmet designs, a replica is a good way to go.
