Description
The flag of Cuba was designed in 1849 and offcially adopted in 1902. The three blue stripes represent the departments in which Cuba was divided at the time. The two white stripes symbolize the purity and strength of the fight for against Spain for independence. The red represents the blood lost for that independence. Originally the lone star was designed with the intention of merging with the US. Today it is supposed to represent solidarity and independence.
