Description

*Note* These come from British, Belgium & commonwealth stocks. Blanco/colours vary HUGELY from blue, khaki and green. Some may have repairs - see last photo for example. Due to the random nature, sorry we cannot take requests.

These haversacks were the pack mule of both British and Commonwealth forces during World War 2. The 1937 pattern served all over the world and continued to persist with reserve units well into the Vietnam War (and in some cases after). Some have Belgian postwar markings, many have faded. Blanco varies GREATLY in colour, so much so, some have been painted over! This haversack is designed to attach to 1937 pattern webbing and can also be carried standalone with a detachable shoulder strap.

Accessing the main compartment is easy with simple dual straps/buckles opening the main flap. The inside is partitioned in the middle and the rear split in two. The typical war time load was 2 mess tins stored on one side, water bottle in the other and a poncho in the large compartment to cushion your back.

With a design from the 1930's and still doing the hard yards these could quite easily keep chugging along until the next centenary. Add one to your collection today!

Hands down the BEST there is!

I recently bought one of these great bags from another supplier selling them as a "Dutch airforce haversack". This exact bag was also used in the Netherlands armed forces, both Army and Airforce. I do hope more become available at some stage, so others can enjoy them! Anyone looking for the pinnacle of quality in an army surplus shoulder bag, should definitely look to find one of these as they are truly amazing! The thickest, most durable canvas, solid blackened brass hardware and a build quality that is second to none! This is what quality looks and feels like! In a world saturated with style name brands, labels that are made purely for the name they carry and zero real quality, Army surplus items truly put them all to shame! It would be so nice if commercial brands used army quality as a benchmark with which to learn how to make quality, lasting, durable goods! This is now the ONE bag I will ever carry with me every day! My search is over. Best bag ever! Hunt one down and buy one!
