Description
Liberia adopted their flag in 1847. It bares a striking resemblance to the United States of America's flag. This is shown due to freed American ex-slaves family ties with the country. The eleven stripes on the flag represent the signatories of Liberia's declaration of independence. The large single white star represents Liberia as the first independent western-styled republic in Africa.
The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
