Description

Rumble in the jungle with these original M1956 small arms pouches! As per the name, the M1956 webbing system was what the US military was equipped with at the start of the Vietnam War and set a new load bearing standard (but often supplemented with more dated gear as well). The M1967 system was made later (and in turn both were replaced by the ALICE system) to run parallel with M56 which in essence was mostly a change in material from canvas to nylon. As the US military found out during the conflict, their modular system worked well for load bearing but canvas absorbed far too much water becoming heavier and would rot in the humidity. M56 looks its age these days and is increasingly harder to come by in recent years. But nothing beats that old vintage Vietnam War era look!

These pouches have a lot going on compared to previous US gear. The main compartment itself can store up to 4 x 20rnd AR mags or 2 x M14 mags (soldiers tended to stuff a sock or the likes underneath for better indexing). The lid opens/closes with a simple pull tab system. To add extra fighting capacity the sides have snap dome straps that secure a frag each. On the rear the pouch has a pair of slide keepers to secure if in place on a web belt and a adjustable strap which clips onto a M1956 harness.

If you want to scream 'Star Spangled Banner' at the top of your lungs riding a Huey, then you can't go past the iconic M56 mag pouch!
