Description

*Note* Some have the hood wire removed. May have unit patches on shoulders. Sorry we cannot take requests

These are genuine issue British Army Desert DPM Windproof Smocks - the current British replacement camo (MTP) smocks are based directly off these albeit with a few differences.

Two large chest pockets and two front waist pockets which are all buttoned and expandable. There are also two zipped map pockets which open between the zipper and chest pockets. Each map pocket has three dividers for pens/pencils. The cuffs are fully adjustable with hook & loop. The front zipper is full length and covered by a hook & loop flap/baffle to make it completely windproof.

The hood is large with an internal loop. There are draw cords at the neck to close the hood, internally at the waist and the base to ensure you can adjust for maximum comfort and protection from the elements. The fabric is very tightly woven polycotton with a water repellent treatment, which of course will wear out with time. It can be revitalized with suitable solutions.

Features:

  • Genuine British Army surplus
  • Concealed Hood (some have a wire frame) for protection
  • Zip Front with Windproof hook & loop Storm Flap
  • 4 x Large Front Pockets, 2 x Zipped 'Map' Pockets
  • Fully Adjustable Cuffs

Sizing: The first number is the chest circumference, the second size is the recommended height of the wearer. A "Small (88cm) / 180" will fit a person around 180cm tall with an 88cm chest size.

Perfect Condition!

First purchase, took 8 days to get to me in America and when I opened the package it was brand new! This jacket is so nice! So many smart features that you never see on american garments. Great stitching, great hardware, with no stray threads anywhere. This may be my new favorite coat. The seam tape "pull tabs" at the bottom of the zipper are super smart, so are the neck closure cordlocks that snap together so they don't flop around. There's a daisy chain loop in each chest pocket but I can't guess what they're for, maybe dummy cords? Pen pocket in the left napoleon pocket. One small problem is you can't shove your hands in the bellows pockets if you're cold. American habit? haha

The fabric is very smooth, with a firm hand. It's doubled up under the shoulders, the entire forearms from cuff to elbow, the back, and the chest in the form of the generous pockets. Basically anywhere that would get wet if you were forced to stand outside in the rain is doubled up.

Really good piece of kit

I had my smock for a few days and it's been raining and cold, this jacket is quite good and does exactly as described. The smock looks almost unused but my one has a fair bit of velcro on the shoulder for patches which I don't mind since you can put other ones on. Very happy with my purchase!

Well worth having.

These must be a 90s era version, the older style ones never had the zip up chest map pockets and the newer style has a mesh liner, these don’t have the liner which is good because the Velcro tends to catch the liner, annoying, no under arm pit vent zippers like the newer style but great jacket for nz conditions when wearing layers. My one had a clean cut tear through the fabric about 150mm long looked like a box cutter caught while opening packaging? Not bad enough that it can’t be fixed and I want to hang onto the one sent as it still had the copper hood wire, bonus. Very happy with this garment
