Description
Niger adopted its flag in 1959, just before attaining independence from France. It is said non-officially that the top orange band represents the northern desert region of Niger. The white area stands for purity and the green band represents the hope and the fertile southern region of Niger. The orange ciricle is said to represent the sun and/or independence.
The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
