Description
Strichtarn zeltbahn, oh yeah! The East German "zeltbahn" is a multi purpose shelter-half and poncho or cape, also known as "pup-tents". Two men would carry a zeltbahn each and button them together creating a two man shelter. Many more can be buttoned together to create a larger shelter. The ones we have here do not come with a pole or pegs but spare equipment from other tents could be used for a makeshift shelter.
To wear as a poncho, wrap around the user and button up at the front. There are two arm slits that can be buttoned closed and two draw cords - one to tighten the hood around the neck and the other to tighten the hood. Complete with the strichtarn/strichmuster camouflage pattern, these will offer some concealment as well, especially if you're looking to emulate a rainy day. The water repellency of the fabric has not been tested and they are pretty old, probably that up if you want to get fully immersed outside. These East German tarpaulin's are a highly adaptable piece of kit. Get a couple with your friends and let teamwork make the dream work today!
