Description
Suriname adopted their flag when they gained independence from the Netherlands in 1975. The star represents unity of all the ethnic groups in Suriname. The red stripe stands for progress and love, the green for fertility and hope, and the white stands for justice and peace.
The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
